How to Get Here

Today, the North of Spain is a highly developed area that has very good communications by land, sea and air making it easy to get to San Sebastian, the beautiful city of the Basque Country from where you will start your trip with us. There are several options to get here by plane, train, road and even by boat:

• By plane:
  • San Sebastian airport is not very large and only offers daily flights from Madrid and Barcelona although, in July and August of recent years, two weekly flights have been scheduled with London's Luton airport. In addition to the taxi, it is possible to get to San Sebastian using one of the many bus lines that connect the airport with the city centre.
  • However, the nearby Bilbao airport is more important and has many more connections, not only with London, but also with other British airports, as well as with the main European capitals. Therefore, it is probably the best option if you are coming by plane. A comfortable and modern bus covers the 100 kilometres that separate this airport from San Sebastian in 1 hour and 15 minutes, every hour (winter) or every 30 minutes (summer).
  • Another good option to come by plane is Biarritz airport which is only 50 kilometres away. It has connections with London, Birmingham and Southampton, as well as other major European capitals, including, of course, Paris. This airport also has a good bus connection with San Sebastian (Alsa or Pesa).
    
    Of course you can also take a taxi or ask us to arrange a private transfer from any of these three airports to the centre of San Sebastian.
  • If you are coming from a country outside Europe, the best option is to travel via the airports of Madrid or Barcelona from which you can connect with another flight to San Sebastian or Bilbao, as well as make this last journey by bus (Alsa or Monbus).

• By road:
  

  San Sebastian has a modern bus station that connects the city with any point in Spain and with some European cities. Of course, there are very good connections with Madrid and Barcelona, where the most important airports in the country are located, which have direct connections with almost anywhere in the world.

  If you decide to come with your own vehicle, you will find that it is also very easy to get to San Sebastian by road, thanks to the modern motorway network in this area of Spain. This is an interesting option if you come from Great Britain or any other Western European country and want to take advantage of your trip to visit some parts of France during your journey. To cross this country from north to south is a little more than 1,000 kilometres and the whole route is also done by modern motorways.

  In addition, if you are coming from Great Britain or Ireland, you can comfortably come with your vehicle using one of the ferry connections (for more information, see the section "By Sea" below).

• By train:
  

  The train is another option, especially if you are coming to San Sebastian from Madrid or Barcelona. You can also use this means of transport to come from Bilbao, although the coach service is a much better option.

  If you are coming from Paris, you can reach the border station of Hendaye and then use another local train to get to San Sebastian.

• By sea:
  

If you are coming from Great Britain or Ireland, the ferry option is a good alternative, either because you are travelling with your own vehicle or because you are going to rent one when you arrive in Spain. The cities of Portsmouth, Plymouth and Cork have a direct boat connection to the nearby Spanish cities of Santander and Bilbao. Once in these cities, you can come to San Sebastian using our modern highways or also the existing bus lines.

As you can see, there are many transport alternatives to come to San Sebastian. Once in this city, we will pick you up and take care of all your internal transfers, until you return to your place of origin or continue your trip to another place.
